![]() I have a friend that I adore because of how radically different her lifestyle and interests are from my own. She is a beacon of calm, while I only see glimpses. If she has time to do an activity, it was meant to be... if not, "c'est la vie." I, on the other hand, am racked with frustration when I cannot DO. (Trust me, I'm working on it.) My friend is a healer, mind, body and spirit while I am a maker, body and soul. Not long ago, I realized that she was as fascinated (and appalled) by the fact that I needed to create, as I am by her abilities to soothe. We are both on the same journey, to grow, to learn, and to teach. While she teaches people to BREATH, I teach them to CREATE. Her form of mindfulness and meditation is something I have strived for - and occasionally attain after years of practice. It took me a long time to realize that my version of mindfulness is actually part of my creating, My mind is more focused and calm WHILE I am making something -weaving a basket, assembling a collage or coloring a page (cool free coloring pages are linked if you click on the owl). If you struggle to find your calm, try another way. You CAN meditate - it can be quiet or it can be active. Recorded guided meditations, "background" music, sitting in silence, chopping veggies, or coloring with the kids. Find YOUR path.
